Whats currently going on?
Last week we began filming and got quite a bit of footage, we filmed at my house and an isolated park near by. We recorded some of the opening clips, also we got all of the school scenes footage out of the way as we didn't want to spend ages filming the school shots as they were least important to us. We still have filming left to do which we shall hopefully finish by the end of this week. Also we have begun the editing process in the Mac Suite, we have been figuring out a possible selection of shots so we can start putting them into an order. Matt also worked on a shot in editing, where he made my reflection move while my head was still, after a while he got it perfect and it is very weird and effective. I have also been searching for a possible sound track but haven't been successful so far.

Final Decisions.
Setting & Location:
Our trailer will consist of a variety of different settings, mainly at the main character's house and also an isolated park near by. There will also be scenes in the school the main character attends but we don't want a load of scenes in the school because it will make our film seem less realistic. I think having isolated settings will be more effective because it creates a mood and atmosphere to go with the film trailers genre, physchological thriller.

Costume:
The costume we will be using will all be casual. There are no specific outfits for any of our characters. They shall all be wearing what they would normally wear, again this is to make our production seem more realistic. In terms of character we are not trying to portray a specific role for example nurse, superhero etc.. therefore casual clothing will be more effective in our production.
Lighting:
The lighting for our trailer will mainly consist of natural light because our film is based around realism. We will also include low key lighting to create an atmosphere and to enhance the genre of our film. Having low key lighting will show the audience that it's a very dark production surrounded by mystery and the mind.

Sound:
Music is a vital part of our trailer so therefore we need to make a soundtrack that will aid in setting a ton and highlighting our chosen genre. We want the music to be quite mellow to begin with but get louder and faster to create mystery and suspence. This will also be effective in addition to the editing of our footage. Sound has the ability to manipulate the emotions of the audience therefore making a soundtrack will more convenient for us becuase we know exactly what we want to include in our trailer for it to be effective
The sound will be created by the group so therefore it will be copyright protected. The software we are going to use is Garageband becuase it is a software that everyone in our group are familar with and it is quite easy to use. Using a software like Garageband enables us to make something that we will be completley happy with because we have had experience using it before.
If we do not use garage band then we will search for a copyfree right media source, where we will be able to use a free download, and then hopefully find the right kind of soundtrack for our trailer.

Update
This week I have been catching up with work on my blog that needed to be finished, edited or improved. I have improved on a lot of my posts including a lot more detail and taking time to make sure everything is up to expectations. All I have left is to upload pictures of our film's story boards, the production schedule, final decisions, that should all be done by the end of this week, and we shall hopefully start filming sometime this week.

Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko
Director: Richard Kelly
Release Date: 19/01/01(USA) 25/09/02(UK)
- The trailer starts with a dutch tilt maybe to suggest confusion to the audience like they wont know what to expect from this film and its going to be a very moving film, or the fact they may not even be able to get or understand the film.
- The soundtrack behind this trailer has several different songs that are from the 80's which were quite upbeat but at the same time there is emotion in the music, this obviously suggest the film is based around the 80's so the music is for the right time.
- In this shot the main character Donnie looks quite dark and disturbed and the background lighting also suggest there is evil and dark times ahead for this character or maybe suggesting what is going on in his head or what his thoughts are.
- We see a character in a bunny rabbit costume and this isn't a stereotypical pyschological thriller villain, and but the rabbit costume is scarier so its not a normal bunny rabbit which we would expect to be cuddly and cute, and it signifies mystery, a sense of imaginary and is it or isn't it real

The Butterfly Effect
The Butterfly Effect
Director: Eric Bress, J. Mackye Gruber
Release Date: 16/04/04 (UK)
- The trailer opens with the phrase ' some people want to forget the past' it then muddles up the words and changes to ' some people want to change it ' this suggests
- The trailer then shows a variety of different but signifcant events that have taken place in the main characters life to give the audience an insight to what has happened in his life and what the film will be based around.
- In various parts of the trailer it changes from colour to black and white this signifies the clip playing is from the past or even it could be an important clip of the trailer for the audience to notice.
- Also everytime it suggest the main character is going back into the past or is visiting past events, a transaction where the screen goes blurry and supernatural being not normal.
- I also think the transactions where the screen blurs supernaturally could represent and link to the title Butterfly, maybe this being the vision of an actual butterfly.

Animatic for '1/2'
This is the animatic for our trailer '1/2'. It basically just shows what our trailer will include, the kind of frames, shots and camera angles we would like to include, it's like a backbone for our trailer to go by and to give us a structure. All we did was take pictures of our storyboard then put the pictures into movie maker and saved it as a file then uploaded it to my YouTube account.

Interview Questions
These are the questions we asked the particpants of our interview, we asked these questions to find out there expectations of the genre of our trailer and our trailer itself. From this we could then know what the audience expect and being able to put it into our trailer.
- Do you know what a pyschological thriller is?
- Do you know any film examples of a pyschological thriller?
- What do you expect from a pyschological thriller?
Questionairre Questions
These are the questions we asked for the questionnaire, the questionnaire helped us develop our production ideas becuase we got an insight into our target audiences preferences and also what they knew about our chosen genre.
- Are you Male or Female?
- Can you name a psychological thriller genre film?
- What mood would you expect to be created in the trailer of a psychological thriller?
- What age rating would you expect from a psychological thriller?
- What would you say is the best location for a psychological thriller film to be set?
Audience Research
Quantitative research involves numbers and measuring amounts and how much research you have received. The results of quantitative research are more numeric rather then in detail. This is becuase quantitative research would be research that may have been gathered by questionnaires- were close questions have been used therefore not exploring the feelings and attitudes. Quantitative research is usually sampled with a large number people and is frequently collected using questionnairs this may be because they are quick and can be distributed to a large audience.
Qualitative research involves gathering data that may not be easy to measure in terms of quantity this is because it is more in depth and tends to explore the feelings and attitudes of the people who are part of the research. Qualitative research is usually sample by a small number of people who may not be representitive however, they fulfill a given quota.
Simple Random Sample- Give everyone a number and then research is selected using a random number generator.
Systematic Random Sample- This is when everyone is assigned a number and depending on how much research you would like every nth number is selected.
Stratified Random Sample- people are put into groups then a group of people are chosen to use depending on age, sex, ethnicity, disability etc.

Audience Expecations.
In this video, I am interviewing selected audience participants and questioning them about there expectations from our genre, pyschological thriller. Different participants are asked to give there answers on different questions such as 'What do you expect from a pyschological thriller? & 'What films of this genre do you know?' We took there answers from the questions to build a further knowledge of what we already knew, and now know what the audience expect from our trailer.
